You are right. This is one of those scenarios (if I am understanding the context correctly) that I have noticed white people use logic gymnastics around it’s usage. One of those “well he just said it because we were talking about words you should not say, he would never ACTUALLY use that word”.

The part that also disgusts me with this story is that the shitbag cop had just been sworn in to the position hours before he shot and killed an unarmed black teenager.  It’s like this piece of garbage was itching to murder a black man way before even thinking of becoming a pig with a badge.

I’m glad Coogler got a person of color to direct, at least. This is how industry power starts and manifests. Hopefully he’ll be executive producing soon and his tree forms many branches full of creatives of color.

I hope it’s good, but without Ryan Coogler directing I don’t think it will be. Certainly not as good as Creed.
