And “white flight” was when white people left the inner cities because one or two black families moved in (i.e., racism) and said landlords and owners stopped taking care of properties, turning them into slums. Gentrification is in some ways the reverse…

I don’t see it as a contradiction so much as the fact that most things in life are not simple. Especially as a black person in America. We LIVE with contradictions. Psychologists call it cognitive dissonance.
