Although “Insecure” may not be coming back for a sixth season any time soon, a reunion special of sorts hasn’t been ruled out—at least, not for show star Yvonne Orji.
Speculation that something involving the fan-favorite show was brewing began at the end of February when showrunner Prentice Penny tweeted for fans to send him questions about the things they’ve always wanted to know about the show. Various clips from the show have also been making the rounds on social media as of late, spawning the show to trend and discourse surrounding the characters to ensue once again.
“Working on something and wondering what are questions y’all always wanted to know about #insecurehbo @insecurehbo?” Penny wrote.
When series star and comedian Orji (a.k.a. Molly) stopped by to talk to The Root on the red carpet at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors on Sunday, she claimed she had no knowledge of whatever it was Penny was alluding to—but she didn’t rule out the possibility of the cast coming back together for some sort of reunion in the years to come.
“Did y’all ask Issa? Y’all asking the wrong person. Her name’s on the bus,” Orji hilariously responded. “Listen, we had an amazing run. We have an amazing relationship, the entire cast. So, I love them. If anything, I think it’d be a 25-year-reunion.”
She added, “You see what’s going on with A Different World, they all look fire,” referencing the current 35-year-reunion HBCU tour the cast is embarking on. “And they’re all back. Maybe miss us a little bit and then we’ll come back. I don’t know.”
