After a grueling year-long road to recovery following his stroke, Jamie Foxx has been back outside, resuming his life as one of Hollywood’s most talented and popular entertainers. However, it appears that not everyone is showing him the proper respect.
As previously reported by The Root, the Oscar winner suffered cuts from a glass thrown at him during an alleged altercation while he was celebrating a birthday dinner with his family and friends at Mr. Chow’s in Beverly Hills. Now, we’re hearing what sparked the incident, and it’s truly ridiculous.
According to TMZ, Foxx was annoyed when a guest at “a private party in the upstairs VIP area pointed a laser at his table, projecting the image of a penis.” The actor/singer didn’t appreciate the weird joke, because his daughters were there and it made them uncomfortable.
The VIP area was rented out for a holiday party by Dickhouse Productions, the company behind “Jackass,” though none of the franchise’s stars were there. It was reportedly mostly crew members at the party.
Earlier in the evening, the private party sent a drink to the Grammy winner and he accepted it. This was followed by them trying to get his attention, laughing the whole time, at which point, Foxx’s guests noticed the laser image. The “Ray” star reportedly responded, “In front of my daughters?”
Foxx and a few of his friends headed up to the VIP area to confront the offending parties, and the situation “escalated.” One of the “Jackass Forever” crew “allegedly threw a thick drinking glass,” hitting the “Django Unchained” star in the face, cutting his mouth, to which the “Slow Jamz” singer responded, “It’s my birthday, what is wrong with you?”
The entertainer left to get stitches, but the holiday party allegedly “continued being aggressive” with his guests, leading the restaurant staff to call the police. Bryan Freedman, an attorney for Dickhouse Productions, issued a statement about the incident to TMZ.
“Although the crew has the greatest respect for Jamie, the version of events that has been presented is totally inaccurate and deeply unfair to those attending their holiday celebration that night,” Freedman said.
The outlet reports that its sources say Dickhouse Productions crew were “involved” in the situation, “but police have not corroborated that info” and the investigation has just started.
