So, this is what we call multitasking.
This week, Cardi B proved that working mothers really are all things to all people—through her quick wardrobe changes alone. Snatching wigs and wearing different hats all at once, the former regular degular girl is now, at turns, international superstar, private dancer, doting mother, Dynasty-level diva, and in-demand brand ambassador. We’re tired just thinking about all of it.
In fact, we don’t even know where to begin, but we think we’ll start at last Saturday, when Cardi gifted the internet with one of her famous selfies to show off an all-red-everything ensemble by Vex, paired (of course) with “bloody shoes” from Christian Louboutin.
But she was clearly only trying out options for that evening’s performance at the 36th annual Adult Video News Awards in Las Vegas (because porn makes enough bank to book Cardi B), where she wowed the crowd in head-to-toe blue and green. Bryan Hearns, who designed looks for Cardi for the “Money” and “Twerk” videos and her appearance at Coachella 2018, created not one, but two looks for the star. Her longtime wigmaster Tokyo topped off the looks with a coordinating ombre-dyed custom wig. Matching shoes came courtesy of Tom Ford (blue) and Louboutin (green). And check those mirrored chartreuse nails.
But while she may play a porn star at her leisure (per her caption), Cardi is a mother, first and foremost. Sharing precious time with baby daughter Kulture Kiari on a private jet after the performance, Cardi managed to also plug Reebok, one of the many brands she currently reps. Because working mommies are all too familiar with nurturing their babies and their businesses simultaneously.
Of course, Cardi currently also has some legal business to handle (specifically, her role in a strip club fight instigated by the wandering affections of husband Offset). She showed up for court in New York City on Thursday morning wearing a fox fur hat and coat ensemble (over ripped jeans and with a makeup-free face—we live) worthy of Dynasty’s Dominique Devereaux. (Don’t @ me PETA; I just report the facts. Plus, we’re sure Diahann Carroll would approve.)
Leaving the courtroom, Cardi also managed to confirm that of the many projects she’s working on, her strained marriage is also on the list.
On Friday, Cardi did triple duty and a major hair change, switching it up with a custom cropped unicorn wig (also by Tokyo), and giving three looks in Atlanta to kick off Super Bowl weekend, starting with a fox-trimmed patent leather lavender coat by Saks Potts and white stilettos from Louboutin.
Of course, she had to make time to tease—literally—her upcoming Super Bowl spot for Pepsi. Appearing on the blue carpet for the ‘Planet Pepsi’ Pre-Super Bowl LIII party, she rocked a cropped leather vest and trousers over a white corset-inspired bodysuit.
And in what can only be considered an act of endurance, Cardi ended the night by accompanying Offset to Oak nightclub to host the Big Game Weekend party, wearing a slinkly, sparkly, sheer, skin-hugging, spaghetti-strapped little number that was... *chef’s kiss*
But even the most super of supermoms have to rest sometimes. The nonstop action admittedly took a toll on the shape-shifting superstar, as evidenced by a slightly tipsy Instagram video confessional in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
But seriously? With a schedule like hers, who can judge Cardi for celebrating doing it all with a Friday night shot (or three) of Hennessy?
Hopefully, Cardi will get some rest this Super Bowl weekend. And hopefully, her first commercial for Pepsi (alongside Steve Carrell and Lil’ Jon) will be a big hit with Super Bowl watchers.
Because while all mommies work hard as hell, being a working mommy at Cardi’s level ain’t for the faint of heart, okurrrrrr?
