Hot girl forever Missy Elliott recently dropped a new single and released a teaser for a documentary based on her life Friday.
The 90-second trailer promises a film that delves into one of hip-hop’s most creative minds.
“It’s never just a record for me,” Elliott says in the beginning of the clip. “It’s never just making a hot record. I can do that in my sleep. But visually I have to see what I’m going to do with that record when I perform it.”
The untitled documentary trailer features artists like Pharrell and Busta Rhymes and female industry execs like Mona Scott-Young and Sylvia Rhone singing Missy’s deserved praises. Not only has she given us songs like “Hot Boyz,” “One Minute Man,” “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” and “Get Ur Freak On,” but Elliott has also produced for everyone from Aaliyah to Janet to Mariah to Whitney.
After suffering some health issues, Elliott laid low until she reintroduced her greatness to a new generation during Katy Perry’s 2015 Super Bowl halftime show. She was also feted at July’s 2016 VH1 Hip Hop Honors and did a little carpool karaoke with first lady Michelle Obama.
The documentary trailer comes hot off the heels of her new song and music video “I’m Better,” featuring Lamb.
Perhaps she’s ready to bless a new generation with her skills. But don’t call it a comeback …
