The year of hate continues, as Marlon Wayans and DJ Vlad continue lobbing their disrespectful thoughts about each other on social media.
The feud between the two began more than a week ago after Vlad released a part of an interview with comedian Aries Spears, in which Vlad told Spears that Wayans asked for more than $40,000 and 30 percent of future revenue from his interview to appear on VLAD TV.
Wayans caught wind of the clip days after its release when a fan tweeted how Vlad “would have to pay me 500,000 for an interview with 55% of all revenue made from the video on all platforms!”
This initial comment led to a long back-and-forth Friday night with Vlad clowning the comedian for finding someone with a small following to agree with him and claiming that interviews with the “White Chicks” actor don’t get many views online.
Wayans responded in short order, claiming that Vlad was “unprofessional” and adding that if he doesn’t like the $40,000 number he’s asking for, he should “keep it moving.
Days after this initial spat on X, the two were still arguing, with Vlad rekindling the feud by tweeting about the comedian not liking his looks, writing on X, “Marlon Wayans, I’m sorry that you don’t find me attractive. Fortunately for both of us, I’m heterosexual. Between your recent gay photoshoot and your claim to fame dressing up as a woman, this would be the perfect time to fully come out of the closet. Coming out as gay in 2024 would surely revive your declining career.”
This one post unleashed Wayans, leading to a flurry of posts in which he furiously attacked how Vlad is “hated” in the urban community, and began to clown the journalist in several ways.
This isn’t Vlad’s first viral public spat on social media this year: During the beef with Drake and Kendrick Lamar, he made critical comments about Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” saying that the track needed a better mix.
Many people responded, including Princeton University professor Morgan Jerkins, tweeting, “You are WHITE. This is a BLACK FOLK AFFAIR.”
To no surprise, Vlad channeled his inner Karen and attempted to get Jerkins in trouble with Princeton for how he spoke to him on social media. It backfired, leading to Vlad getting clowned and criticized by every Black person imaginable on X.
