Though it’s taken years for Diddy to accumulate enough wealth to qualify him as a billionaire, it only taken one moment in time—and a myriad of lawsuits—to see it potentially all fade away.
Or at least, this is the major takeaway from the latest analysis of the Bad Boy producer’s financial status as put forth by Forbes on Friday. According to several financial and legal analysts who spoke to the outlet, they all agree that Diddy’s status as a billionaire is now in jeopardy of being erased thanks to both the slew of sexual assault lawsuits lobbed against him and the impending federal investigation that’s currently underway. Analysts also said that dissolution of his partnership with liquor company Diageo dealt a blow to his standing despite being paid $200 million for his equity in the formerly co-owned brand DeLeón tequila back in January.
Additionally, the analysts also cite the recent selling of his equity stake in Revolt TV—which as previously reported by The Root was turned over to the employees that currently work there earlier this month—as another knocker against his funds. However the current CEO doesn’t see it as a bad thing but rather an opportunity to build and grow.
“We are most proud of the transformation that our teams will experience as they shift from being employees to owners of the business they are helping to build. Black culture is global culture, and REVOLT’s superpower is being the home for creators that move culture globally, allowing us to build the most powerful storytelling engine for Black voices,” said Revolt CEO Detavio Samuels at the time.
With the Diageo partnership, looming federal investigation, numerous sexual assault suits (most seeking some monetary compensation), and the selling of Revolt—analysts now estimate that the hip-hop mogul may actually only have $200 million in cash with the rest of his assets being linked to his jet, art collection, 20-car fleet, and whatever music royalties he still has ( even though he sold back most of them to the artists who were on his Bad Boy label back in Sep. 2023.)
It was just two years ago that the mogul had become a billionaire. Now, there’s no telling just how fast his many millions will go away.
