With Diddy now in federal custody, more details are coming out on why the disgraced music mogul was in New York, seemingly enjoying life just days before his arrest.
The Bad Boy records founder came to New York 11 days before he was arrested at Manhattan hotel Monday evening. Marc Agnifilo, his attorney, confirmed that he was in the city to cooperate with the authorities.
But even in the few days before he was taken in by the feds, it seems that Diddy was engaging in more illegal activity.
According to PEOPLE, authorities found multiple bags of a pink powder, which they suspect to be narcotics. During his arraignment on Tuesday, Assistant United States Attorney Emily A. Johnson told a federal judge that they are currently testing all the bags of powder found in his room — and based on previous seizures, it could be ecstasy.
Like Puff’s attorney, Johnson also made it clear that the mogul was “waiting, potentially for his arrest” and was expected to be on his “best behavior.” But since they potentially found drugs in his hotel room, prosecutors used that to argue that Diddy would continue breaking the law until he was detained by authorities.
Agnifilo did not address the allegations during Combs’ arraignment on Tuesday, according to PEOPLE.
But amid this legal fiasco, Diddy did secure a rare legal win just a day after his arraignment.
Last week, Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith learned he would be awarded $100 million in his civil suit against the disgraced music mogul. In the lawsuit, he claimed that he was drugged and sexually assaulted by Diddy at a Detroit party in 1997. Allegedly, the two met while Cardello-Smith was working at a local restaurant in the area.
But in a surprising turn of events, a Michigan circuit court judge has reversed the ruling, meaning that the Bad Boy Records founder no longer has to pay the $100 million.
