Despite Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s relentless efforts to get his way and totally dismiss the sexual assault case against him and Sean “Diddy” Combs, a judge’s recent ruling spells bad news for the rap mogul.
On Thursday (Dec. 26), Judge Analisa Torres sided with his accuser, a Jane Doe alleging both Carter and Combs drugged and raped her in 2000 when she was only 13 years old. In the recent ruling, the judge ruled the accuser can remain anonymous for now, which is what Jay-Z and his lawyer, Alex Spiro, were hoping against.
The judge wrote “the weight of the factors tips in favor of allowing Plaintiff to remain anonymous, at least for this stage of the litigation,” in the ruling obtained by the Daily Mail.
And that’s not all: Jay-Z has previously promised to do everything in his power to expose his accuser’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, and prove the lawyer is conspiring against him, but Torres said she’s sick and tired of all of the games.
The judge accuses Jay and his lawyer of being “combative,” and she even went as far to say attorney Spiro has a “chronic inability to follow the rules” and warned him not to test her in the future, according to the ruling.
Her five-page written ruling said, “Carter’s lawyer’s relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks is inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client. The court will not fast-track the judicial process merely because counsel demands it,” according to Sky News.
Judge Torres’ ruling comes three weeks after Jane Doe amended her civil lawsuit against Combs to include Jay-Z’s name. Since then, Jay and Roc Nation have been fighting against the accuser’s lawyer, Buzbee, and his firm in a personal and sometimes underhanded war.
Recently, Buzbee filed a lawsuit against Roc Nation accusing the entertainment company of “barratry,” or encouraging someone to sue for personal gain. And Hov isn’t backing down either — the rapper recently went as far as to sue Buzbee for defamation and extortion.
