Is she or isn’t she? That was the question consuming Black Twitter after images and video from Rihanna’s 5th annual Diamond Ball surfaced, raising speculation that her delayed ninth album might be due to another, far more important project currently in production...
Read into her cryptic, yet on-point statement—or the conspicuously clingy black velvet cocktail dress Rih wore to Thursday night’s Diamond Ball—as you wish. But should our favorite bad gal (who has recently expressed her desire to be a mother “more than anything”) in fact be expecting a little bad gal, we kind of hope she maintains her normal matter-of-fact style and never formally announces, just to keep messing with our too-nosy heads.
But all speculation and countless events aside, if there was one person who conquered this most recent New York Fashion Week, it was Robyn Rihanna “Work, Work, Work, Work, Work” Fenty. In addition to inspiring yet another media firestorm, the megastar also managed to tease the release of her hotly-anticipated next album (reportedly in December); host another successful Diamond Ball (soon to be followed by the release of the Fenty Beauty-Clara Lionel limited edition Carry-All Makeup Organizer on Sept. 16); and stage a celebrity-studded peek at the upcoming live-stream of her Savage x Fenty show, airing on Amazon on Sept. 20.
On-site at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center on Tuesday to help debut the Autumn-Winter collection? Joan Smalls, Laverne Cox, Cara Delevingne, Halsey, Migos, DJ Khaled, Big Sean, A$AP Ferg, Fat Joe, Fabolous and Tierra Whack, among others. And despite making us wait for an album, Rihanna reportedly turned out performances at both the runway presentation and the Diamond Ball.
Oh, and in the wake of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Dorian, have you heard Rihanna’s thoughts on the environment?
Bottom line? In an otherwise action-packed and fashion-filled week, our multi-faceted, maybe mama-to-be at some point in the near or distant future (or whenever she wants—because until she says it, it’s just wishful thinking) once again managed to eclipse all others in her quest for world domination.
Do we stan? Yes, Rihanna. Yes, we do.
