During the first season of her WEtv reality series “Tia Mowry: My Next Act,” the actress revealed a lot of personal details about her post-divorce life. One of the most shocking revelations came when she explained that she wished that she and her sister Tamera Mowry-Housley “were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now.”
This led to fans wondering about the true nature of their relationship and dropping conspiracy theories about why they might be estranged. Tia quickly clarified that she meant the twins weren’t geologically close. Her sister doesn’t live nearby, so Tia can’t get together with Tamera whenever she needs her support.
Now, she’s addressing the comments in a new interview, once again explaining that there’s no issue between the two and that “The Game” actress just misses having her sister “accessible.”
“There’s this special bond that we will always have that will never leave us,” Tia said. “What I meant by that was, she’s not as accessible to me as she used to be. That’s a part of life. Change is constant. But change does not mean that something is wrong.”
This is how it works with a lot of siblings, but Tia’s been in the business long enough to know that saying she wishes they were “still close” is going to cause a reaction. Perhaps that’s what she wanted, since it got people watching her show.
For her part, Tamera offered up a different side when she told Entertainment Tonight that “Tia is doing Tia” and she found out about the show with everyone else. In case you’re wondering why Mowry-Housely didn’t appear on Seaon 1 of “My Next Act,” it turns out she wasn’t asked.
Of course, now that we’re all talking about the state of their relationship, don’t be surprised if we see Tamera make a surprise appearance in Season 2.
