Wendy Williams’ fight to end her guardianship has gotten down-right messy. And after the bombshell “Where’s Wendy” documentary and a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, it seems Williams is making moves to fight for her freedom

In latest news, Williams has fired her court-appointed personal attorney, a woman named Linda Redlisky, according to TMZ sources. This fallout reportedly stemmed from a disagreement regarding Williams’ ongoing case.

Sources told TMZ the former TV personality asked Redlisky to file paperwork, which would begin the process to decide if the guardianship is actually necessary. Instead of that, however, Redlisky allegedly did nothing. This eventually led to Williams firing her on Wednesday (Jan. 29), reports TMZ.

News of Redlisky’s canning comes weeks after Williams told The Breakfast Club she feels like she’s in prison. “I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I’m saying? But I feel like I’m in prison,” she told the show hosts. “This is what is called emotional abuse,” she added.

Williams first entered the guardianship in 2022 voluntarily after being diagnosed with several health issues and even fainting during her daytime TV show, “The Wendy Williams Show.” The court appointed Sabrina Morrissey to rule over Williams, but now, the TV show host says she’s being taken advantage of— similar to Britney Spears.

Many have spoken on Williams’ behalf to corroborate that she’s in fact lucid. Her long-time friend Charlamagne Tha God, journalist Don Lemon, and Williams’ own niece have testified to her sanity. “Wendy, whether she’s incapacitated or not, deserves to live her life with some degree of autonomy and happiness around her family,” Lemon told The Root.

Williams currently lives in a New York assisted-living facility but is not able to receive incoming calls or access electronic devices, according to TMZ. She’s even said she only has $15 to her name, as her money is tied up in the legal situation, according to Page Six.
