Last week, Wendy Williams caught some major flak after making comments regarding HBCUs and the NAACP. The comments came on the heels of Jesse Williams' riveting BET Awards acceptance speech.
The talk show host's comments questioned why certain institutions like the NAACP and HBCUs are still in existence. And she wondered what would happen if their opposites existed.
“On the other hand, I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college. We have historically black colleges. What if there was the National Organization for White People, only? There’s the NAACP," Wendy Williams asked.
Well, those comments about the NAACP and HBCUs may be haunting her now.
Accordng to Love B. Scott, The Wendy Williams Show lost its Chevrolet sponsorship as a result of Williams' comments. Scott reported that the deal fell through because Andrea Holmes Thompkins, president and CEO of ACE Media Corp., the ad company responsible for bringing Chevy to the show, is a graduate of Howard University, an HBCU.
Emails to ACE Media have not yet been returned to verify this information, but if it's true, Williams' show took a huge "L," and she's probably eating her words right about now.
