As if we needed another reason to support Tamron Hall’s new show when it debuts on September 9 on ABC, she just gave us one more.

As reported by Page Six, when speaking to the audience at Rolling Stone’s Women Shaping the Future brunch on Wednesday, the veteran journalist disclosed that she’d demanded more women on the staff of her highly anticipated talk show after attending a meeting where “there were only men in the room.”

“And I had to say, ‘Sorry to tell you, but we are going to have a lot of women on staff,’” she quipped. “‘I don’t want to just talk to you men all day. We need some women in here.’”

Apparently, the network complied, meaning this is just the latest bit of good news from Hall, who at the top of this month revealed not only the premiere date of her upcoming show, but that she’d quietly married and is pregnant with her first child at 48.

It may have been news to us, but Page Six also reports that at least one other new mom was in on Hall’s big secret: good friend Gabrielle Union got the news months before the masses, as Hall revealed this week in response to Union honoring her with a #WomanCrushWednesday tribute on Instagram.

“Fun fact… @gabunion was one of the first people I confided in about my baby and this amazing woman kept it under wraps for months!!!!” she commented. “Now that’s a ride or die. Not a word!! Girl code what’s shared is cherished and protected.”

As for Union, she showered her expectant friend with well-wishes—and revealed that Hall helped inspire one of her most iconic characters to date (who will be making a brief return to the small screen for a finale movie on April 16).

She was one of the inspirations for Being Mary Jane and has championed me, my work and our shared journey to motherhood. Her new daytime talk show (which she executive produced and stars in) is both moving and fun, hitting all things topical that shape our world. ... I know she will be an incredible mother, and can’t wait to continue watching this beautiful journey she is on. Let us lift her up in the light of goodness and hold here there.

We know we’ll be rooting for Hall’s success in all her new endeavors—and appreciate her commitment to advocating for other women’s success in the process.
