Wendy Williams’ eyes kept welling up during one of her after-show episodes as she rejoiced at the idea that her eponymous talk show had been renewed until 2020.
“2020. I found out at that particular time and I was just a bit overwhelmed,” Williams explained, recalling an earlier episode in which she welled up but never explained to her audience why she was teary-eyed.
“I’ve had to sit on the secret and I feel very grateful. At that point [in 2020], the Wendy show would be on the air for 11 years. And that would mark my almost 40 years career in broadcasting.”
The show’s production company released a statement as well, lauding the success of the show.
“Wendy’s across-the-board strength in the demo most important to advertisers has made this talk show an indispensable part of stations’ daytime schedules. With these renewals, our valuable station partners can be assured this key lynchpin of their lineups will continue for many years to come, especially when it comes to having a powerful and dependable entertainment lead-out from many of their important morning news blocks,” the co-presidents of the Debmar-Mercury production company said in a statement.
