This year, the legendary group has something extra special planned. They’ll be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the classic album,“Crazysexycool” with a performance in Times Square as part of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2025” on ABC.

In a special moment, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas will perform some of their biggest hits. Chilli explained that despite their excitement, it will feel “bittersweet,” as they haven’t been in Times Square together since the passing of their bandmate Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in 2002.

She died in a car accident in Honduras. Her death hit fans hard because after years of struggling with personal demons, she was finally getting her life back on track.

“The last time we were in Times Square, is kind of bittersweet in a sense,” she told TMZ. “We had lost Lisa, and it was amazing to be in that moment, to celebrate her, but it was horrible because she was not. So that was the last time we were actually in Times Square.”

Chilli revealed that her favorite part of a performance like this is rehearsal. She has a reputation for putting in extra effort, something the group’s dancers can’t always handle.

“It’s funny because our dancers’ agents will call our manager and say, Chilli is working them too hard. I’m like, ‘I’m singing, I’m dancing and I’m older than you, so you should be able to keep up,’ she said. “I don’t understand when anybody’s getting tired when I’m not. I’m pulling 150 percent in and all these years later, we still love it. When you still love it like that, the fans know on stage we’re having so much fun.”
