In a video from the New York Times, two young men who went to school with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev discuss their memories of the 19-year-old Boston Marathon bombing suspect who is still on the loose, after his 26-year-old brother was killed.
"When the FBI released the photos, I was like, 'Yeah, that looks like my friend Jahar,' " said Derek Winbush, using a nickname for Tsarnaev. Telling a reporter that he last spoke with Tsarnaev last summer, he said, "He was a nice guy."
Asked if there was anything that would lead him to suspect that the young man would commit the crimes he's accused of, Winbush replied that there wasn't, adding, "If someone told me that he punched some dude in the face, I'd be like, 'What, Jahar?' "
Also featured in the video is Jean Almodovar, who says he met Tsarnaev "through weed and stuff." He said, "You would never expect anything out of the ordinary from him."
