(The Root) — If you missed hearing the gems of advice and information from The Root 100 class of 2012 during our recent gala event, the ASPiRE network is giving you a chance to get to know some of this year's honorees this weekend on its The Root 100 program.
On Friday (check your local listings), in an episode centered on empowered artists, viewers will be introduced to three honorees who have used their know-how to be change agents. On Saturday the network is scheduled to air a marathon of four hourlong episodes starting at 4 p.m. ET, all hosted by CNN anchor and past The Root 100 honoree Suzanne Malveaux.
In an episode about advocates, The Root's Omar Wasow interviews MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous and actress Gabrielle Union. Following that show, Wasow chats with MSNBC anchor Tamron Hall; the Kennedy Center's new artistic director for jazz, Jason Moran; and actor-activist Hill Harper in an episode focused on entertainment.
