If The Wire had a love child with The Sopranos and the resulting baby ran away from its good home in the HBO suburbs, moved to a town called Starz and started hanging out with friends named “Fiddy,” we’d have to name that hit show Power.
Starz dropped the trailer for the upcoming season of the hit series, Power, on Saturday. Season six will apparently feature a lot of scenes with James “Ghost” St. Patrick (played by unofficial Sportin’ Waves spokesperson Omari Hardwick) looking very concerned as the world around him begins to crumble. Although I have never watched Power, it is always safe to describe any crime drama by saying the main character’s world is “beginning to crumble,” although we would have also accepted “closing in on him” or “forcing him to reevaluate what is important.”
According to Starz’s synopsis, the sixth season begins with Ghost seeking vengeance after his core is rocked by—and I swear it says this— “the perfidiousness and cruelties of those he once called his family.” I have no idea what that means but it sounds exciting as hell! The season summary says that Ghost wants to get even with Tommy, but makes no mention of the death of Arya, Sansa and Bran’s distant cousin, Kanan Stark, played by 50 Cent.
Speaking of the infamous half-dollar, Power’s sixth season will also feature Mr. Cent’s directorial debut after serving as executive producer of the NAACP Image Award-winning drama. The mogul reportedly inked a nine-figure payout with Starz, which would easily force someone to reevaluate what’s important to them.
The first episode debuts on Starz on Aug. 25 so make sure you call your cousin to get that Starz password before the world around you begins to crumble.
