The first teaser trailer for Disney’s Moana was released Sunday night during the Tony Awards broadcast.

Moana, the first Disney film to feature a Pacific Islander princess, stars Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson and Auli'i Cravalho, with music by Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda, Samoan singer-songwriter Opetaia Foa'i and composer Mark Mancina.

Moana is a C.G.-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.

“Samoa is in my blood,” Johnson, who is Samoan and African American, said at Disney’s D23 Expo in September. “And to tell a story inspired by the South Pacific is truly a great honor.”
