Bun B is one of the most beloved and respected Southern rappers of all time, who has not shied away from the gangster or “trill” lifestyle in his music. So it may be unnatural to hear him like this.
On Thursday, the UGK MC appeared in court during the sentencing hearing for Demonte Jackson to testify about an April 2019 incident where Jackson broke into the rapper’s house and held his wife, Angela “Queenie” Walls, at gunpoint.
Jackson previously pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery.
In footage provided by ABC 13 Houston, Bun B can be heard saying, “She can’t communicate. And I just get all angry again because she didn’t deserve it. She didn’t ask for this.”
He later added, “The next morning, she got out of bed and went down to the kitchen, and I heard a scream. I went down to see what was wrong and she had her back turned. She was crying. I was like, ‘What’s wrong?...’ She was shaking furiously.”
He recalls her saying, “I can’t look at those stairs.
According to ABC 13 Houston, Bun B also recounted specific details he and his wife experienced the night of the break-in. He remembers his wife answering their door, thinking that she was picking up a package from an Amazon delivery driver.
Instead, she was greeted by a masked robber, who was later identified as Jackson.
When he realized that a wife was being held at gunpoint, Bun said that he grabbed his gun and was going to go downstairs to confront the robber until he heard his wife say, “Don’t come downstairs. He’s going to kill me.”
Eventually, Jackson made his way to their garage and got in one of their cars. This is when Bun B started to fire multiple shots at the robber, with one hitting him in the shoulder, which led him to fall out of the vehicle. The two began fighting on the floor before Jackson managed to escape.
Since he was on foot, Bun B was able to catch up to Jackson rather easily and found him on the highway and told him to “unmask himself.” He then allowed Jackson to run off and called the police.
The UGK rapper identified him the next day at a local hospital.
Sentencing for Jackson will continue on Friday, according to ABC 13 Houston.
