Every time Charlamagne Tha God appears on “The View,” you know something interesting is probably going to happen. On Wednesday, the radio personality joined the talk show for its “Hot Topics” segment and things got a little spicy between him and co-host Whoopi Goldberg.
While discussing President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son, Hunter Biden, the EGOT winner and “The Breakfast Club” host got into a back and forth about whether the president is a hypocrite for changing his mind on the subject.
Charlamagne believes that the Commander-In-Chief wasn’t being truthful when he originally said that he wouldn’t pardon his son, believing this was always the president’s plan. This is where Goldberg jumped in to question his opinion. “I’m gonna stop you for a second,” she said. “Only because you don’t know that it was a lie. We don’t know why he changed his mind.”
With the media personality asking the comedian/actress if she “really” thought the president just suddenly changed his mind during Thanksgiving weekend, Goldberg explained that she thought he became tired of following political expectations as figures like Trump continue to push legal and ethical boundaries.
“I think he changed his mind because he got sick of watching everybody else get over,” she said. “At some point, you get to the place where you just go, ‘so I’m just going to follow the straight-and-narrow always,’ because that’s what’s expected of Democrats.”
The radio host went on to blame Democrats for putting themselves in this position by claiming the “moral high ground” when “they don’t have to do that.”
This led the “Sister Act” star to ask, “So we’re mad at him because he changed his [mind]?” Charlamagne responded, “I’m not mad at him for pardoning Hunter Biden.” Goldberg joked back, “You sound like you’re mad!”
When the Oscar winner said she didn’t think the president was wrong for pardoning his son, Charlamagne confirmed he thought the situation was “ridiculous.” This led the legend to proclaim, “No, you’re ridiculous.”
This was followed by the “Get Honest or Die Lyin’” author clarifying himself, saying, “I didn’t say you were ridiculous, Ms. Goldberg. I would never say that. I just think that’s [ridiculous].” This was met with Goldberg inviting him to “come over here and give me a kiss.” Which he did.
After a commercial break, she called Charlamagne her “new sex partner,” so clearly no one’s feelings were hurt by the spirited argument.
