Earlier this year, the movie Southside With You followed a young Barack Obama and Michelle LaVaughn Robinson's romance and their very first date. The film was met with rave reviews and gave the world a glimpse into their courtship. And now Netflix wants to give people a glimpse into how Obama spent his early years in college.
Barry tells the story of how a young Obama "finds himself pulled between various social spheres and struggles to maintain a series of increasingly strained relationships with his Kansas-born mother, his estranged Kenyan father, and his classmates."
In the Vikram Gandh-directed film, Obama is a young college transfer student at Columbia University and is finding his way around the world. The film stars newcomer Devon Terrell as Obama, as well as Anya Taylor-Joy, Ashley Judd, Jenna Elfman, Ellar Coltrane and Jason Mitchell.
