On Sunday, Memphis, Tenn., police investigators searched for a suspect in the death of a 33-year-old officer who was shot during a routine traffic stop, reports the Associated Press. Officer Sean Bolton, who was shot multiple times, died after he was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. No arrests have been made, and the shooter or shooters remain on the run, the report says.
The incident occurred about 9:18 p.m. Saturday near one of the main arteries in southeast Memphis, an area that includes homes, apartments and businesses, the report says. A civilian reportedly used Bolton's radio to notify police about the shooting. No further details were released.
AP reports that Bolton is the third Memphis officer to be fatally shot in a little over four years.
