Jeremy Lin came into the nation's collective purview when he went on a scoring streak back in 2012 as an off-the-bench point guard for the New York Knicks. The blitz came out of nowhere and was sensationalized even more because he's Asian American. It goes without saying that NBA players are overwhelmingly black.
Well, Lin—now a player with the Charlotte Hornets—is addressing the elephant in the room a bit more directly. He made a hilarious video titled "Hot to Fit in the NBA," but it should have been titled "How to Fit in the NBA if You're Not Black."
In the nearly five-minute clip, Lin is faced with situations in which he tries to contend with the fact that at times he feels out of place racially and culturally in a league that is predominantly African American. Stuff like how some black men give each other daps when they see each other, the slang they use when they greet each other, how they get fresh off the court and how they dance when turning up. Oh, and how Lin cannot—and I repeat, cannot—say the n-word, even when a hot song calls for it.
There are a bunch of cameos from NBA bigwigs like Dwight Howard, DeAndre Jordan, Kyle Korver and Tyson Chandler.
There's even a cameo from Stephen Curry—and, get this, his cutie-pie daughter, Riley, gives everyone a special treat by doing the Nae Nae.
