Outside of getting dragged for her irresponsible respectability politics, Erykah Badu paid a surprise visit to Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, N.J.
No, she wasn’t there to check the length of skirts but to participate in Shabazz’s Future Project, which believes “young people everywhere should have [the] opportunity to discover their potential and build the skills they need to change their lives and world.”
What made the visit funny was that most of the students had no idea who she was.
