Like millions of other Americans, President Obama performed his civic duty when he headed to the early-voting booths in the city of Chicago. But who would have guessed that a simple procedure like voting would end up with the president coming under the watchful eye of a joke-filled boyfriend?
On Monday, as Obama was casting his ballot, he stood next to Aia Cooper and her fiance, Mike Jones. Jones took the opportunity to joke around with the president, and Obama’s reaction was priceless.
"Mr. President, please don't touch my girlfriend," Jones told Obama as he walked by the president.
"I really wasn't planning on it," Obama replied.
Cooper had an inkling that her boyfriend would say something smart, but not that smart.
"I am sorry; please excuse him," Cooper said.
Obama then told Cooper that her boyfriend was "an example of a brother just embarrassing me for no reason."
The president added: "I can't believe Mike; he is such a fool."
Obama was even nice enough to give Cooper a hug and a kiss on the cheek after they finished voting.
But Cooper also didn't want any trouble from Michelle Obama. "On the cheek, just the cheek—please, Michelle, don't come after me—just the cheek!" Cooper told WLS-TV.
Imagine how Jones felt after that. Well, Obama knew precisely how he felt. "Now he's really jealous," Obama told Cooper.
