Tonight is the night. The 2017 Golden Globes ceremony airs Sunday, Jan. 8, at 8 p.m. ET.
Hosted this year by late-night talk show host and comedian Jimmy Fallon, the Globes are known to be one of the most fun of the award shows, mostly because the liquor flows to the celebrities’ tables all night long.
But perhaps the best part is the fact that there’s no #GoldenGlobesSoWhite hashtag this year in the same way the 2016 Oscars spawned the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag. That’s because this time, we have a seat at the table. Granted, we don't need the seat, but it’s nice that the powers that be have nominated talent based on deserving films. That’s right: Black actors, directors and movies with predominantly black casts have been nominated for the beautiful statue, giving us the recognition we certainly deserve.
