If you're anything like me, once you get on YouTube and start watching Aaliyah interviews, you can't stop.
Three hours later, and you're still entranced by her whispery voice, her mild-mannered and sweet temperament, and this mystique about her that made her death in 2001 feel so completely wrong and inappropriate.
Today marks the 14th anniversary since babygirl's passing. Here are five interviews that bring some of her personality traits to the forefront.
1. She loved the work of a British musician by the name of Lewis Taylor, shot down those pesky rumors that she was dating Jay Z and wore a charm bracelet with the word "Dada" on it. It represented her best friend, Kidada Jones (Quincy Jones' daughter).
2. She loved to laugh and carried around fake microphones that she and her hairstylist Eric Forman (he died with Aaliyah in the 2001 plane crash) would sing into from time to time.
 
3. She got a kick out of playing Akasha in Queen of the Damned because it allowed her to explore "a dark side" that she thinks everyone ought to tap into every now and then.
4. Aaliyah put her foot down—in her own sweet way—during this interview and said that it was a conscious decision not to work with R. Kelly for her sophomore album, One in a Million. She said that there were "negative things" said about her, and she was excited to take control of the project and showcase her range.
5. It was so cute to see Aaliyah and her longtime choreographer and friend, Fatima Robinson, cut up while on the set of the video shoot for "Rock the Boat." This is the last time Aaliyah was filmed for television before her untimely death.
