Over the last couple of years, the Wizards have gone from a team that couldnโ€™t sell out its own arena to a team whose tickets now earn top dollar. As the new cultural consultant, Wale wants his first job to entail redesigning the teamโ€™s uniforms, and he hopes to enlist Kanye West to do so.

In an interview with ESPN the Magazine, Wale said his new job is to โ€œprovide a spark, at all costs. Iโ€™m not going to do anything corny, but Iโ€™m talking to Kanye about designing new uniforms.โ€

West, who has collaborated with top fashion designers, isnโ€™t necessarily known for his glitz and glamour when it comes to his own style sense. His subdued look of torn jeans and basic gray sweatshirts is quite understated in appearance but not in price. Last year West released a line of clothing with APC, and letโ€™s just say, one T-shirt went for the price of some new sneakers.

With the help of West, Wale hopes that he can revive the Wizardsโ€™ image and create D.C.โ€™s own โ€œLake Show,โ€ and give the teamโ€™s players the shine they deserve. Who knows if a collaboration involving Wale, Kanye and the Wizards will pan outโ€”but one thingโ€™s for sure: Wale isnโ€™t short on his D.C. pride.
