Even though it’s not clear what initially sparked the Los Angeles fires that have devastated the area this week, conservatives have somehow found a way to blame diversity, equity and inclusion for the response to the crisis.
While critics on the left say the right is simply doing what the right does best, giving inflammatory commentary in hopes of disparaging their political opponents, but others question why aren’t they investigating what could be another reason for the tragedy, climate change?
While President-elect Donald Trump bizarrely and inaccurately blamed the Delta smelt fish, his son followed in his footsteps.
“Can we rename DEI to DIE since that’s what seems to happen to the people downstream of those who place woke virtue signaling far above competency?!?” he wrote on Threads.
It gets worse. Other conservatives like Matt Walsh claim that the “exclusion” of white men has only made increased the crisis.
“Los Angeles deliberately set out to exclude white men from becoming firefighters, and now they don’t have enough firefighters to prevent their city from burning to the ground. DEI is a cancer that destroys everything it touches,” Walsh stated on X.
It’s no surprise that billionaire and X owner Elon Musk repeated this sentiment by tweeting: “DEI means people DIE.” Despite how bleak his statement was, Alex Jones naturally added his two cents and peddled a ridiculous conspiracy theory.
“Los Angeles Fires Are Part Of A Larger Globalist Plot To Wage Economic Warfare & Deindustrialize The Untied States Before Triggering Total Collapse,” Jones wrote on X along with an episode of his show about the wildfires attached.
It’s no surprise that Newsmax host Rob Finnerty picked up on this disturbing trend and insisted that Los Angeles Fire Department being led by someone from the LGBTQ+ community is the reason for the tragedy: “In Los Angeles, it’s the exact same story – death by DEI, this time with their brand new fire chief.”
The chief was referring to is Kristin Crowley, who has over twenty years of experience. She has worked as a paramedic, fire inspector, assistant chief and fire marshal.
