It seems like Nick Cannon wants that old thang back—and by “old thang” I mean his relationship with ex-wife Mariah Carey.
The “Wild’N Out” host recently said as much during a recent interview where he reflected on whether or not he’d be open to rekindling things with the “Shake It Off” singer.
“Yes, absolutely. I’d be stupid if I wouldn’t. We belong together,” he told E! News while at the premiere for season two of Wondery’s popular podcast video series, “We Playin’ Spades.” However, he later joked that she wouldn’t want him back due to him leaving and having a plethora of children after their divorce.
As you may recall, after six years of marriage, Nick and Mariah announced their split back in 2014. They share two children, 13-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, together while Nick has fathered eleven other children since then. When asked how all the mother’s of his children manage to get along, Nick explained that while he doesn’t have the expectation for all of them to do so, they actually all are doing so in an “amazing” way.
“I think that’s the thing that people might always think that it would be that. But it’s like everybody lives their own life, before me and after me,” he said. “So I think that’s how you keep the peace and everybody moving, like everybody worried about themselves and not worried about what someone else is. As long as the kids are happy and they have the strongest understanding, I think that’s what makes sense. You gotta operate out of that.”
Circling back to his twins with Mariah, Nick joked that their joint parenting would “be done soon” as their kids are now teenagers and how he feels they’re growing up “too fast.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time Nick has feigned for his ex-wife. Explaining how she “saved his life” around the tie he found out about his Lupus diagnosis, Nick called the “Always Be My Baby” singer “the perfect helpmate, the perfect matriarch, the perfect mom, the perfect wife in those scenarios.”
