(The Root) — The consensus is that President Obama didn't fare too well in the debate last week against GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
Thursday night's debate — which is televised live from Centre College in Danville, Ky. — features Vice President Joe Biden and Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan facing off in what may be a chance for the Democrats to settle the score.
If you're in the New York City area, head over to Katra Lounge on 217 Bowery St. from 6 to 11 p.m. The New York Association of Black Journalists, Young Professionals United for Change, The Root and the Tara Dowdell Group are hosting a free event where politically engaged thinkers, bloggers and writers will gather to watch the candidates talk politics.
CNN commentator Roland Martin and The Root's political correspondent, Keli Goff, are scheduled to deliver remarks at 8:15 p.m. The debate begins at 9 p.m.
