Platinum Lovers featuring Proche & Brandon (BYFKZ) from Gary Beauford on Vimeo.

In a battle royal of old school versus new school, Porche Anthony and Brandon Faulkner of the Beat Ya Feet Kingz (of MTV's America's Best Dance Crew fame) "compete" against an "old school" couple in a karaoke song-and-dance act called "Platinum Lovers" at the UniverSoul Circus.

If you ever had any doubts about whether today's R&B music could evoke the same emotions as old-school soul, put those questions to rest. Faulkner performs "Nothing on You" by B.O.B. featuring Bruno Mars, and Anthony performs Dondria's "You're the One." Nice songs in their own right, but against songs by Lenny Williams and Jennifer Holliday? No, sir. No, ma'am.

Forget the over-the-top theatrics (although they're beyond hilarious). Even if the old-school couple had halfheartedly "karaoked" the lyrics to Lenny Williams' "Cause I Love You" and Jennifer Holliday's "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," they would still have impressed the audience. Watch, enjoy and laugh.
