The New York Times tackled the issue of the lack of racial diversity in Hollywood in an article last week titled "Hollywood Whiteout." It seems that the paper slightly exaggerated said "whiteout," reporting that only seven black actors have won Oscars, when there have actually been 13.
It's easy to forgive the miscalculation, since the piece was thoughtful and obviously well intended. Well, it's easy if you aren't one of the people who were forgotten.
One of the biggest oversights was the exclusion of Whoopi Goldberg, who won an Academy Award for best supporting actress for her role in Ghost in 1990. And she's not happy about being left out of the final count. At all.
