After being sentenced to six years' probation for sexual misconduct (he pleaded guilty to patronizing a 16-year-old prostitute who he says told him she was 19) former pro-football great Lawrence Taylor doesn't seem to have many regrets.
In fact, his interview could be an infomercial for the sex trade, with lines like, "Sometimes I look for some company," "It's all clean," "Everyone does it" and "It's the oldest profession in the world." And, as a bonus: "I don't have to worry about [anyone's] feelings." (Right, except the feelings of a young girl who was beaten and coerced by her pimp into sleeping with you. No biggie.)
The Huffington Post reports:
The girl was 16 — under the age of consent — when she met Taylor last May.
Speaking outside the Rockland County Courthouse, she denied she was a prostitute and said another man, whom she called Rasheed, forced her to go into Taylor's Montebello hotel room by punching her in the face.
She said Taylor should have been able to tell she had been beaten and that she was underage.
"I believe Mr. Taylor could see my face and how young I was," she said. "I did what he told me to do because I was afraid what would happen if I didn't."
She added, her voice breaking, "I am upset that he will not go to jail for what he did to me."
The other man has been identified in a separate federal prosecution in Manhattan as Rasheed Davis, who is accused of acting as the girl's pimp and who allegedly assaulted her and brought her to Taylor's room at the Holiday Inn.
Did Taylor suffer some sort of head injury during his football career that impaired his ability to process remorse, or even empathy? His nonchalance is remarkable, and he doesn't express any feelings one way or the other about the girl's age or the trauma she experienced, except to remind the interviewer that you never know what you're going to get with prostitution, and point out that it's not as if "she was getting off a school bus" when he met her.
