The Civil Rights Era Cold Case Initiative is an all-out effort by the FBI, state law-enforcement agencies, and civil rights organizations to solve racially motivated homicide investigations that occurred before 1970.
To bring attention to these investigations for Black History Month, the Investigation Discovery channel has partnered with documentary filmmaker Keith Beauchamp, producer of The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till, to showcase three cold cases in the documentary presentation The Injustice Files.
The first episode will explore the death of Wharlest Jackson, a father of five and treasurer for the local chapter of the NAACP, who was murdered with a car bomb shortly after taking a promotion at the Armstrong Tire and Rubber Factory in Mississippi.
The Injustice Files premieres tonight, Feb. 18, on Investigation Discovery at 9 p.m. EST/PST.
