NBC Los Angeles reports that a Pasadena, Calif., judge ruled this week that there is enough evidence to proceed with a full trial in the kidnapping and extortion case against teen counselor Kelvin McFarland.

McFarland is accused of picking up the teenage girl when she was cutting school. He allegedly then handcuffed her and brought her to her to her aunt’s house and demanded $100 from the Aunt to enroll the girl in his program. The girl, whose name is being withheld because of her age, testified that she went with McFarland because she thought he was law enforcement — but was also scared that he might not be.
