You've heard about Tavis Smiley and Cornel West's "poverty tour" by now. They're traveling the country to bring attention to America's most vulnerable citizens and to what they say are the failings of President Obama.
The pair stopped by stopped by CNN's American Morning to discuss the tour and debated with Caroll Costello about whether it made sense for Obama to "concentrate on one segment of the population."
Smiley argued, "The poor get demonized" and called the debt-ceiling deal "a declaration of war on the poor." West agreed, saying, "The poor and working classes are living in a state of emergency" and insisting that Obama make them a priority the same way that banks and wars have been prioritized in the past.
