More than two decades after George Lucas announced his interest in making Red Tails, a film about the Tuskegee Airmen, it has finally been completed, and the official trailer is now online. It's directed by Anthony Hemingway, written by John Ridley, and has a cast that includes Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, Tristan Wilds, Method Man, Lee Tergesen, Ne-Yo, Elijah Kelley, Andre Royo and Jesse Williams.
Lucasfilm says the film will be released Jan. 20, 2012.
It's a black film (one about African-American history and with a black cast, at least), with an important subject matter and a big budget, and it doesn't center around domestic help or Tyler Perry in drag. Any complaints? Let us know in the comments.
