Victoria Monét may be a new face in music to some, but she’s already a certified legend—and just got a major cosign from fellow legend Anita Baker.

You see, back in 2022, the “On My Mama” singer expressed how she had the desire to create a classic love song “that Anita Baker would be proud of.”

Little did Victoria know that she was already on the cusp of one, specifically a song called “How Does It Feel,” the smooth track off her debut studio album Jaguar II that released back in August 2023. While her groovy standout hit “On My Mama” took the internet and music scene by storm and catapulted her (finally) into household name status—it was the aforementioned song that caught Aunty Anita’s ear and prompted her to give Victoria her flowers and say “job well done”:

“You’ve Already Done it. @VictoriaMonet By Using *ALL of Your Gifts. *How does it feel* is A Melodic Masterpiece. CONGRATULATIONS on ALL your, well deserved Nominations & Accolades & Keeping R&B in Your World/Your Generation. ABXO,” the “Sweet Love” singer wrote back to the “Alright” singer on Thursday.

After getting wind of the response, Victoria replied back: “WOW!! This is such an honor and a dream come true!!! My gratitude for you and your art has always been immense and now to speak to you through mine feels so golden!! I love you to the stars and I thank you for these flowers! I’m in awe, hope to hug you soon.”

I don’t know about you but getting blessed by a living legend merely four days into a new year feels like a good omen to me, here’s hoping the goodness follows after Victoria to take home the Grammy gold in February. We’re rooting for you sis, and Anita Baker is too! You got this!
