Books about Henry Ford's failed jungle experiment and a Faulkneresque
novel about the lasting effects of war on memory are among the
finalists for the 2009 National Book Award, which the National Book
Foundation announced this morning. Five finalists were named in four
categories: fiction, nonfiction, poetry and young people's literature
