Missy Elliott is the type of artist who’s always supportive of her friends. One famous friend recently had a chance to return that love during her tour stop in Atlanta.
On Tuesday, the “Work It” rapper hopped on X to thank R&B superstar Usher for helping her out while he was attending her shows in Georgia.
“Big up my fam @Usher who came to not just one of my shows but TWO & hopefully 3,” she wrote. “What ppl don’t know is I suffer migraines and I performed yesterday in ATL with the WORST migraine nauseated & all & he came back stage & did pressure points on my hands. Yes he do it all.”
So Usher isn’t just a generationally talented entertainer, he’s also a secret healer. Feels like he needs to be the new, ridiculously handsome doctor on Season 21 of “Grey’s Anatomy.”
As amazing as it is that the “Nice & Slow” singer was able to help Missy through her pain, it’s even wilder that she deals with migraines while performing her high energy, futuristic shows. There’s a lot of crazy lighting and visual effects involved in her productions. It’s not a migraine friendly environment. Her determination to fight through that so she can put on a great show for her fans is another reason why we love her so much.
The rap legend recently opened up about how she handles living with Graves’ disease. According to the Mayo Clinic, it’s an immune condition that leads the body to “make too much thyroid hormone. Some symptoms include fatigue; weight loss; sensitivity to heat; heart palpitations; and trouble sleeping. Can you imagine dealing with any or all of those issues while mounting a huge headlining tour? Missy Elliott is a warrior.
The Virginia native is on a history-making run. She was inducted into the class of 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is thrilling audiences on her first headlining tour alongside Ciara and Busta Rhymes and just had her classic song “The Rain” sent into deep space by NASA.
We’ve always known how amazing Missy is, but it’s really beautiful to see the groundbreaking artist receive her well-deserved flowers from the rest of the universe, including Usher.
