Univision, the nations largest Spanish-language network, beat out NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox in ratings the first week of September. Although the top four major networks were in re-runs, the Spanish-language network beat them in the most desirable demographic (18-49). Critics are not weighing this win heavily because the networks aren't at full speed, but the fact that this network beat out the others is major. The win suggests that advertisers and programmers may be undervaluing Latino audiences and not paying attention to the shift in demographics for the U.S., which informs audience tastes and viewing decisions. Univision's most popular shows include its telenovelas, Hasta Que el Dinero Nos Separe ("Until the Money Do Us Part") and Soy Tu Dueña ("I'm your owner"). The network also has Sabado Gigante ("Giant Saturday"), a three-hour Saturday-evening variety show that has aired on the network since 1986. Univision routinely beats out CW in ratings, so it is definitely one to watch, pun intended.
