I’m not one to brag, but in my heyday, I was the Michael Jordan of charm. As I’ve gotten older, I’m not as sharp, and in truth, I’ve lost a step. My charm has never worked on my co-host, Danielle Young, aka Ms. Patti Patti LaDanielle, and as such, we hate each other.

That’s not always the case, though. Let’s just say my charm was working on our latest guest, Queen Sugar’s resident bobcat (she’s too young to be a cougar), Tina Lifford.

Look, I know that Danielle and I say this with most of our guests, but Tina (we’re on a first-name basis now) was amazing! She talked about the days of one of my favorite gone-too-soon shows, South Central, and how that led her to Queen Sugar. Ms. Patti Patti’s favorite show right now is Queen Sugar, and she is constantly swooning over Tina’s character, “Aunt Vi,” and her man “Hollywood’s” love and how she wants to find a guy like him. She tried to tell me all about their relationship, but honestly, I tuned her out.

Tina also might be one of the most spiritually put-together women we’ve ever talked to. In fact, Ms. Patti Patti has added Tina to her stalk list, right under Oprah and in between Oprah and Oprah.

You get the picture. It’s very rare that a person meets and even exceeds your expectations in real life—yes, we are looking at you, Tyrese—but Tina did just that. She’s a lovely actress, and her character has a ton of beautiful qualities: she’s always there for her family, she loves hard, and most importantly, she’s in a steamy on-screen relationship with a younger man, and during a rousing game of “Fuck, Marry, Kill,” which was altered to “Fuck, Love, Slap,” Tina wouldn’t have slapped me, if you catch my drift. You’ll have to listen to hear the rest, but just know that every now and again, I still have a little charm left.

Side note: I also asked that Danielle leave the room so that Tina and I could have a private conversation, and she refused.

I hate her.
