Long-term unemployment benefits begin running out today for as many as 400,000 as Congress failed to pass an extension of the program before going on Spring Break. The usual suspects opposed the extension, believing the money needed to be raised, but should be paid for but not added on to the deficit. This adds up to circling the wagons around what Jim Bunning attempted to do in Kentucky a month ago (a move which, at the time, was largely frowned upon and voted against).
