Underground Reveals Key Art for Season 2; Get a 1st Look at Harriet Tubman

With John Legend as its executive producer, WGN’s Underground series had an enormous first season, and next month’s season 2 premiere is sure to have fans talking. Especially when gun-toting Harriet Tubman, played by Aisha Hinds, makes her debut.

The series released key art for the second season Wednesday, and as you can see, Hinds’ Tubman means business.

This season’s cast includes Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Jessica de Gouw, Alano Miller, Christopher Meloni and Amirah Vann, along with Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Trotter, Jesse Luken Sadie Stratton, Jasika Nicole and Dewanda Wise. There’s also John Legend as Frederick Douglass.

Season 2 of the 10-episode hourlong series follows an unremitting struggle for freedom within a divided America on the brink of civil war, each side vying to enact its own justice. Set in the aftermath of the Macon Seven’s daring attempt to stage the greatest escape in history, this group of American heroes continues on their harrowing journey to freedom, with legendary abolitionist Tubman blazing the trail.

Underground returns on Wednesday, March 8, at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT on WGN America.
