(The Root) — Former professional boxer Mike Tyson will be taking his acting talents from Las Vegas to Broadway with his one-man show, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth. Under the direction of the film do-it-all Spike Lee, the fighter-turned-thespian will perform at the Longacre Theatre from July 31 to Aug. 12.
The show, an autobiographical account written by his wife, Kiki Tyson, and Randy Johnson, first ran in Vegas at the MGM Grand's Hollywood Theater last month. Undisputed Truth will be Lee's Broadway directorial debut.
"It is an honor to work with Spike Lee," Tyson said. "I have always admired his work. Sharing the highlights and lowlights of my life with New York is especially important to me, as I was born and raised in Brooklyn. I am thrilled to bring the story of Undisputed Truth to Broadway."
According to the show's official website, Tyson promises to deliver a "must-see theatrical knockout." You can purchase your tickets now via the site.
