Aside from his misogynoir; his problematic views on relationships; that shitty collaboration he did with Rev. Run, lecturing black women on how to be cardboard cutouts in hopes that some black man will one day pledge some part-time penis to them; his inability to act his way out of a wet, semitorn, partially degraded paper bag; and that one time he called out the “sluts, skeezers, hos and tramps,” the one thing I dislike about Tyrese Gibson is that he is so extra.
Tyrese is the kind of guy who manages to make everything about himself. He turned the delay of the new Fast and the Furious movie into a Hollywood feud. Tyrese is so extra, I bet he has sex to Tyrese’s album with a special cut of Transformers, which only shows his scenes, in the DVD player.
A great example of this behavior comes from The Blast, which reports that Tyrese’s daughter was “mortified” after the R&B legend person who sings songs flew a banner over her school with an apology. Because ... there can never be too much extra.
Tyrese has a 10-year-old daughter, Shayla, who attends a high-profile school in Van Nuys, Calif. Tyrese has been accused of abusing his daughter by holding her down and hitting her, prompting his ex-wife to file for a restraining order to keep him away from Shayla.
Shayla was set to testify Tuesday in a hearing to determine whether the judge’s temporary restraining order would become permanent. On Monday, Tyrese flew a plane over the school with a banner that read, “NO MATTER WHAT, DADDY LOVES YOU SHAYLA.”
Shayla reportedly burst into tears when she saw the plane and banner and had to stay in the principal’s office, since most elementary school children do not want to even acknowledge the existence of their parents. Tyrese has also allegedly sent flowers, candy and other gifts to the school so frequently that the school no longer even calls Shayla to the office when presents arrive.
Tyrese’s ex-wife, Norma Gibson, believes that this violates the temporary restraining order against the semi-actor. While The Root offers no opinion on family disputes, I would personally like to know if this whole “restraining order against Tyrese” thing works for music, poetry and shitty overmodulated slow songs.
I’m asking for a friend.
